Science:

Science means “to know”. It is a systematic way of acquiring knowledge about the surroundings
by careful observations and experimentations over a period of time.

THE LIVING WORLD

Characteristics of Living Organisms : Growth, reproduction, metabolism, cellular organization, consciousness (ability to sense environment), self-replicating and self regulation.
·         Reproduction and growth are NOT defining properties.
·         Metabolism, cellular organization and consciousness are defining properties.
Biodiversity : Term used to refer to the number of varieties of plant and animals on earth.

Sub-Atomic Particles

In 1808, according to John Dalton, matter was made up of extremely small, indivisible particles called ‘atoms’. The word ‘atom’ has been derived from the Greek work ‘a-tomio’ which means ‘uncut-able’ or ‘non-divisible’.
